Councillor Dave Radcliffe has welcomed the Council's consultation on draft planning guidance for the Selly Oak Hospital site.

Birmingham City Council is consulting on draft Planning Guidance for the Selly Oak Hospital site. Services from Selly Oak Hospital will transfer to the new University Hospital buildings around 2011, after which the site will become available for development.

Selly Oak Councillor Dave Radcliffe has welcomed the consultation: "Selly Oak Hospital is a big site and its development could have a big impact on the local community. We should all be able to have our say on the planning policy."

"In particular, any development should maintain the character of the area, retaining the mature trees and some of the more historic buildings."

Further information can be found at www.birmingham.gov.uk/sellyoakdevelopments and there will also be a number of exhibitions in the local area (details below).

The official deadline for comments has been extended until the end of October and the Council will consider all the comments before producing the next stage of the Planning Guidance.

Exhibition displays:

  • Selly Oak Library, Bristol Road, until Saturday 6 September

This will be staffed by City Council officers on Tuesday 2 September (5pm-7pm) and Thursday 4 September (2pm-4pm).

  • University of Birmingham Guild of Students, Edgbaston Park Road, until Thursday 4 September

This will not be staffed by City Council officers.

  • Aldi supermarket, Bristol Road, Monday 8 September (10am-2pm)

This will be staffed by City Council officers.

  • Selly Oak Hospital canteen, Raddlebarn Road, Tuesday 9 September (12pm-2pm) and Wednesday 10 September (2pm-4pm)
