Selly Oak Liberal Democrats have condemned Government backed plans to close a further 26 post offices across Birmingham. "Thank you to everyone who has already supported our campaign against post office closures," said Councillor Dave Radcliffe (centre). "We all know people whose communities will be hit hard by the closure of their post office." Local Post Offices under threat include:
Parliamentary Spokesman Dave Radcliffe is also urgently seeking clarification about the future of the Bournbrook post office branch on Bristol Road in Selly Oak. The branch closed in September 2007 when the subpostmaster resigned. But the Post Office refused to allow anyone else to open a new branch until it had announced its closure programme. "There have already been too many local post office closures," said Dave Radcliffe. "We want a Bournbrook branch to be reopened as soon as possible."
