Liberal Democrats in Birmingham have launched their vision for Birmingham in preparation for the local elections on 1 May 2008. Details of the local election candidates have also been announced. The Liberal Democrats key priorities for Birmingham are: 1. Low tax increases - to keep the council tax as low as possible. 2. A Safer Birmingham - continuing to work effectively with the police to beat the criminal. 3. A Greener Birmingham - increasing recycling rates & a commitment to reducing CO2 emissions. 4.To crack down on environmental crime - tougher enforcement action on graffiti, fly tipping & fly posting. 5 . A Cleaner Birmingham - keeping local streets clean & cracking down on people who drop litter. 6. To tackle anti social behaviour - working with the police to beat anti social behaviour. 7. Local services - Local decisions - aiming to take more decisions locally involving the community in the process. 8. A Caring City - By supporting vulnerable members of our community.
