Selly Oak ward councillors with Post Office petitions

Selly Oak Lib Dems have been overwhelmed by the massive response to their Post Office campaign.

Selly Oak Lib Dems have been overwhelmed by the massive response to their Post Office campaign.

Councillor Alistair Dow said: "Thank you to everyone who has signed our petition. It will be presented to the Prime Minister soon. We must do all we can to stop Labour from closing any more of our local Post Offices.

In the last eight years fifty-five post Offices in Birmingham have closed. This year, the Government are set to close a further 2,500 Post Offices nationwide. The Post Office is expected to announce proposed local closures in June 2008.

Councillor Dave Radcliffe said: "Post Offices are a valued and well used local facility. They provide a friendly and efficient service and should not be closed against the wishes of local people."

You can sign the Liberal Democrat petition against the closure plans online at http://www.libdems.org.uk/commerce/issues/postoffice.html
