Councillor Dave Radcliffe, who chairs the Council's Cycling Advisory Group, has welcomed Bike Week 2007 (which runs from Saturday 16 June to Sunday 24 June 2007).

In Birmingham, the City Council is helping to organise a Bike2Work Challenge during the whole week. Cllr Radcliffe said:

"Last year, over a 100 residents and workers in Birmingham cycled an amazing 5,500 miles commuting during Bike Week 2006 - the distance from Birmingham to Shanghai! The challenge now is to beat that figure."

To take part in the Bike2Work Challenge, you can collect a ride log card from your local library or download one

from http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/transportation The log cards entitle you to a free bike safety check at participating cycle shops and entry into a prize draw.
