Selly Oak Ward councillor Alistair Dow has been re-elected with an increased majority of 674. Speaking after the declaration of the result, Alistair Dow thanked all those who had supported him.

Liberal Democrats in Birmingham have launched their vision for Birmingham in preparation for the local elections on 1 May 2008. Details of the local election candidates have also been announced.

Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed a below inflation council tax increase for the third year running. The rise of only 1.9% is one of the lowest in the country and equivalent to less than 37p per week for a Band B household. This compares to an average annual increase of 5.6% when Labour ran the Council.

Liberal Democrats met in Liverpool recently for their spring conference. It was Nick Clegg's first as Leader of the Party and in his speech, he called for big changes to be made in the way the country is run.

Local Lib Dem Councillor Alistair Dow has welcomed new money for Selly Oak Park. £20,000 has been agreed to replace the current unsafe surface and some of the equipment in the play area.
